Since 2006, Pendrive Linux has been dedicated to making USB booting easy and accessible. With our step-by-step tutorials, Linux bootable USB software, and Windows media creation tools, you can walk up to nearly any PC, boot from a flash drive, complete your tasks, and leave without a trace—keeping your data secure and portable. Our mission is to make USB booting straightforward and convenient for everyone.
Over the years, our Universal USB Installer and YUMI bootable USB creation tools have reached millions of downloads, supported by a community of tens of thousands of active users. Our tutorials have been featured in Linux Magazine, PC World, PC Magazine, and dozens more.
The Universal USB Installer was once Canonical's suggested method for creating an Ubuntu bootable USB stick. We have also built custom USB tools for hardware companies like Corsair, allowing easy firmware updates via flash drives. Your feedback has been essential in shaping these tools to be reliable, easy to use, and up to date. We also highlight some of the best bootable USB software and other popular Windows media creation tools for portable computing.
Our Journey
PendriveLinux was founded by Lance and began as a personal hobby—a project to explore USB booting and share insights with others. What started as a small experiment has since grown into a global platform, empowering users around the world. Today, our resources enable users to boot and run Live ISO files, Windows installers, PE environments, antivirus tools, cloning software, and various diagnostic tools—all from a USB drive.
This site was originally established to experiment and share useful information about booting from USB. By sharing as I learned, I hoped to help others looking for ways to boot and run Live ISO files, Windows installers, PE, antivirus scanners, cloning software, and other diagnostic tools—all from a USB drive. ~ Lance
Our Mission
We aim to remain at the forefront of bootable USB technology, making our tools as effective, user-friendly, and adaptable as possible. Just as the software we build upon is open-source, we strive to keep our tools accessible and up to date. We’re dedicated to equipping users with the knowledge and tools to boot from USB drives quickly, securely, and easily.
Suggestions and Feedback Encouraged
We value your suggestions and feedback, which help us continually improve. Please feel free to reach out through our contact page with questions, ideas, or stories of how we have supported your work. Your insights help us enhance our resources to serve you better.
Why Tux the Linux Penguin?
Tux, the iconic Linux penguin, represents the spirit of open-source and portability. Tux was originally inspired by Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, who reportedly developed a fondness for penguins after being playfully bitten by one during a visit to an Australian zoo. This quirky and lighthearted origin reflects the approachable and innovative spirit of Linux.
At Pendrive Linux, Tux is depicted carrying a USB flash drive, symbolizing the freedom and convenience of running Linux from USB. Special thanks to Marcio dos Santos (Aicrom), the artist who created our beloved mascot.
Almost two decades later, Tux is still going strong, as is our commitment to helping users create bootable USB flash drives, thumb drives, jump drives, and microSD cards with ease. Enjoy the power and portability of live booting from USB!
